Part II Navigation 5 NOT SUBMITTED 6 A Review of the ODAP Project: 1980-1985 Tore Audunson and Stephen F. Barstow, Oceanographic Centre, Trondheim, Norway The Oceanographic Data Acquisition Project (ODAP) was started in 1980 as an interinstitutional program within Norway for the collection of wave, current and meteorological data from the Norwegian Shelf and the surrounding waters. The project is sponsored by the oil companies operating north of 62° and the Norwegian Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.

Two results arising from the project are briefly discussed below.

However, it is the combination of the time taken to read the ADC data into the processor together with the FFT processing time which limit the performance. ts gaps between samples (Table l(a». Using a concurrent FFT on a transputer, however, each sample is read from the ADC, and it is immediately fed into the FFT. Thus, half of the FFT has been performed by the time the last sample is read from the ADC. This is a special property of the concurrent FFT where each FFT butterfly is a concurrent OCCAM process.
